WATCH: NORML’s Paul Armentano Debates Anti-Marijuana Blowhard

How do you get to be Drug Czar of the United States without possessing a clear understanding of the issue? That’s the burning question I have after watching this clip of Paul Armentano [1] debating former US drug czar Gen. Barry McCaffrey on MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan Show.

Armentano, co-author of Marijuana Is Safer: So Why Are We Driving People to Drink? [2] and Deputy Director of NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws), easily trounces McCaffrey, who offers an impressively fact-free rationale for keeping marijuana unregulated and in control of Mexican drug cartels. McCaffrey’s argument seems to be that he knows in his heart marijuana will destroy the American family—facts, reason, and common sense be damned.
