LISTEN: Author Jeffrey Smith Talks about the Dangers of GM Foods on NHPR

Jeffrey Smith is the author of Seeds of Deception, Genetic Roulette [1], and other books on the problematic and contentious issue of genetically modified foods and crops.

He recently spoke with James McWilliams on New Hampshire Public Radio about the dangers of biotechnology. You may remember McWilliams as the ethical-food blogosphere’s least favorite person of 2009 for his ridiculous attack on the local food movement [2].

There’s been much debate recently around the pros and cons of GMO food products. Supporters say they’ve brought “substantial” benefits, including the ability to feed a hungry world.  But critics, who call these products “frankenfoods,” believe they pose far too many risks to both the environment and human health.  We’ll look at the latest research – and this ongoing debate.
