Video: The End of America and Ten Steps to Fascism: This Is Step Nine

Our country is convulsing with change. We are in the midst of a high-stakes national election, our economy is a roller-coaster, our environment is being plundered by corporate energy interests, the constitution has been shot full of holes, and we—as citizens—are now the proud public owners of the worst business decisions to come out of Wall Street in generations.

With so much going on and so much being lost, it’s important that we keep a sharper eye on those who would steal our freedoms while we’re distracted struggling to stay afloat. That’s why Naomi Wolf and her fellow watchdogs in the country are so vital to the survival of American democracy.

Power corrupts. It is one of the most basic elements of human nature. People in power seek to gain more. The slow theft of our civilian freedoms over the last eight years has bolstered the destructive power of the federal government—hence hastening further corruption and hunger for power. It is an increasing feedback loop that must be stopped.

Here is a snippet of video from The End of America movie. It reveals how shockingly far we have traveled toward becoming a police state with concerns only for monied-interests.

Slack and Taut: Defining a System’s Resilience

A resilient future (or a resilient present, for that matter) needs to be slack, not taut. What do we mean? Core to the concept of a Lean Economy is understanding the need to move toward a “slack” market rather than one that is “taut.” When British economist David Fleming died unexpectedly in 2010, he left […] Read More
