ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Allan Nation

Allan Nation served as the editor of The Stockman Grass Farmer from 1977 to 2016. Based in Ridgeland, Mississippi, this international magazine covers management-intensive grassland enterprises for producers of pasture-raised livestock.

Son of a commercial cattle rancher, Nation grew up in Mississippi. He traveled to some 30 countries studying grassland farming systems. He authored a section on Management-intensive Grazing in the 1987 USDA Yearbook of Agriculture and served as a consultant and resource for Audubon Television Specials, National Geographic, PBS, and NPR. He received the 1993 Agricultural Conservation Award from the American Farmland Trust for spearheading the grass farming revolution in the USA.

Nation was a featured speaker at many ranching and grazing conferences including the American Forage and Grasslands Conference, International Ranching for Profit Conference, British Grasslands Conference, and the Mexican Cattlemen’s Association. He is the author of 10 books.
