In 2001, Mat Stein’s very first radio interview was on Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell. Back then, Bell had never even heard of Peak Oil—Mat Stein actually introduced him to the concept.
Since that time, Mat Stein has appeared on the program numerous times with predictions of what’s coming down the pike for humanity and what we can do to protect ourselves from disasters—both natural and man-made. In this interview, Mat talks about what we can do in these tough times, and how we can prepare ourselves in the event that times get a whole lot tougher.
We’re facing, no matter what we do, even if we change the way we do business right now, today, we’re facing a huge crisis, financial crisis, that’s going to make the last few weeks look kind of like a picnic. And that’s because we’re still moving full speed ahead with trying to produce more oil, unsuccessfully, to maintain the growth on the planet that we’ve had. Now, I personally believe that it is possible that we’ll do the proactive things that will avoid out and out collapse in the planet, but I’d say our chances are pretty slim, and that right now if we continue doing the same—you know, one person has said, or other people have said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, and that’s exactly what we’re doing right now. So, we’re headed for the wall, no question about it.
