Collapse Lands on Ebert’s List of the Ten Best Documentaries of 2009

You may [1] recall Roger Ebert’s review of the documentary Collapse (inspired by [2] Michael C. Ruppert’s book, now published by Chelsea Green as [3] Confronting Collapse: The Crisis of Energy and Money in a Post Peak Oil World). The film earned Ebert’s coveted 4-star rating and lavish praise for its gripping intensity and power.

Now, Chris Smith’s film has landed on Roger Ebert’s list of the Ten Best Documentaries of 2009.

Collapse. Terrifying. Michael Ruppert, a controversial blogger from way back, transcends opinion about himself by flatly and concisely laying out facts: We have passed the halfway mark in world oil consumption, and it is rising as China and India come online. We will run out in about 40 years. Alternative energy sources use oil. You do the math. We are finished by about 2050, and there’s not much we can do.
