The Faculty Room

Welcome to our new website that helps you teach sustainability and community awareness as part of your curricula, no matter your department.  We are a group of teachers, scientists, politicians, writers and publishers who are dedicated to up-to-date teaching materials that embrace environmental responsibility as part of curricula.

This is where you’ll find news and share ideas on teaching students how to build a career while including the world around them.  Our books and topics apply to pretty much any department, but primarily Social Sciences, Political Science, Business, Engineering, Agriculture, and Environmental Studies.  Green has range, you know?

No office politics here!  Strictly classroom content and course ideas.  Well, maybe a notice from time to time on where to find sustainability research grants.  This site is administered by Jane O'Boyle at Chelsea Green Publishing Co., but the content comes from our authors who are college professors, environmental scientists, organic gardeners and policy-setting politicians.   We even send these authors to you!  Click here to see a list of authors and request an author appearance at your school.

Click through the site and check us out before the students come back.  We have mini-catalogs here that are sorted by specialty:  Business, Engineering & Science, Humanities, as well as an area for High School Teachers.  They offer easy clicking to request exam copies, if you register on our site.  And many of our books come with electronic teaching materials such as video lectures, pre-made Powerpoint slides, and written materials including exam questions.

And did we mention?  We practice what we preach.  Chelsea Green books are printed on recycled paper using soy-based inks.  They are also available as .pdf downloads for electronic reading devices.  But we are not here to just sell books.  We want to learn and share, like you do.

And we want to hear from you!  Each section here contains a weblog for comments that permit you to share your success stories and to read about others.
